We hear a lot about “fake news” these days. Well, I was visiting my hometown not too long ago and saw a friend from high school at my parents’ church. After a hug and some pleasantries, I asked what she was up to these days.

She said, “Oh, nothing. My life is pretty boring.”

I responded, “I love being boring! Being boring is my favorite thing to be!”

Because it really is.

She looked at me like I had three heads, “Your life is anything but boring!”

Does it look that way from the outside? I mean, I married an exciting guy, right?! I guess you’ve got me for 12-16 days per year. Those days are pretty exciting.

Me, on the other hand? I take kids places, and I hang out with Noah. “Full-time Care” is what some people call it. We eat, we do therapy, we eat again. Sometimes we meet a friend at a coffee shop, and those days I put on make-up. Super exciting.

Lately, Noah and I have been getting out every day for a walk around the neighborhood. And that’s pretty exciting. One of our neighbors ran out of money while building a house, so it’s been sitting there for months unfinished. It’s the neighborhood scandal, and often I pass another neighbor who will talk about this unfortunate lot bringing down the value of the houses around it. See? Exciting.

So, we have a few exciting days, and we love it, but being boring is my favorite thing to be. And I relish in the fact that it’s what I am.

Don’t buy into the hype or be fooled by a few posts on social media. We love those exiting times, and we are blessed to be a very small part of those times (and I do mean small). But as for me living some crazy, exciting life? It’s definitely “fake news.”

Here we are. Sitting on the sofa. Very exciting.
