The Joy of Being Back

You know that feeling of being on vacation? It’s so relaxing. You’ve got your toes in the sand, or the majestic view of the mountains and a cool breeze. It’s your favorite place. But after some days. Five or so, maybe? You wake up and your back hurts a little. You start thinking about the things you aren’t getting done. You look around for that thing at home you like. Your mattress is softer and your coffee maker makes better coffee. You even start missing your friends from work or school. There’s always something that brings you back.

I guess since I stopped writing these posts, we’ve had a few things going on. We had a great football season, and we had a blast. We traveled to cool places. Well, freezing places actually. We bought heavy coats that I didn’t think we’d use again. We lived in middle Georgia, after all. And then we had a little wrinkle thrown into our plan.

Fast forward a bit, we changed jobs and Noah got to find something he loves almost as much as riding in a golf cart: turbulence. We sold a house, graduated our middle son, and moved to Maryland. I know. I’m as shocked as anyone. Looks like we will use those coats after all.

Since moving, we opened some boxes, we breathed the mountain air, and then we put our toes in the sand. And now we are back. Noah loves the mountain air, and he loves the beach, and he loves turbulence. And I love it with him. Well, maybe not the turbulence. But it’s time to be home, and it’s time to get back into a routine.

So here I am, in a routine, and excited to be writing again about our adventures in joy. It’s good to be back!
